"Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most accurate ways to examine the soft tissue areas of the body. MRI enables physicians to visualize differences among soft tissue with incredible acuity. It is a painless, noninvasive procedure that uses no ionizing radiation. Instead, MRI combines computer technology with magnetism and radio waves to create multiple pictures of the inside of the body. These images can be obtained in multiple planes of the body, thus creating a three-3 dimensional map of the area under study. After these images are transferred to film, they are interpreted by a MRI radiologist to detect disease or injury." Source: North Shore Magnetic Imaging Center
CAT SCAN (Computerized Axial Tomography Scan): A type of X-ray that yields a three-dimensional picture of the body that is about 100 times more sensitive than a standard X-ray. It can be given with or without contrast (medication given by drink or injection to enhance X-ray pictures)." Source: Vitahealth.org
Electromyography (EMG) testing is usually done on patients with symptoms of weakness and who, during an examination, are found to have decreased muscle strength. This testing is valuable in that it helps to differentiate between muscle weakness that is caused by neurological conditions and weakness caused by primary muscle conditions.
Electromyography is testing that is done to measure muscle response to nervous stimulation. During testing, a needle electrode is inserted through the skin into the muscle. The electrode detects electrical activity which is then displayed on an oscilloscope. Several electrodes may need to be placed at various locations to obtain an accurate study. After the electrode is in place, the muscle will need to be contracted (i.e. bending the arm or leg). A wave form can then be seen on the screen of the oscilloscope which gives information about the ability of the muscle to respond to nervous stimulation.
It's easy! All you need to do is call us at (800) 996-1997 today, or CLICK HERE to download our scheduling form and either fax it back toll free (877) 674-7588, or e-mail it to us.
We schedule appointments nearest to the claimant's house or workplace, usually within 20 miles of the claimant's home or workplace.
Absolutely! We call the patient, physician, adjuster, and case manager. We confirm the appointment and keep the adjustor and case manager informed on how the scheduling process is proceeding. There is no need for you to schedule (and re-schedule) patient's imaging exams.
